The United States Mint mainly produces these proof versions of the American Silver Eagle for collectors. The item comes complete with all original government packaging including an outer box, an inner velvet case, and a certificate of authenticity.
The American Eagle Proof Coins undergo a specialized minting process, which begins by manually placing burnished coin blanks into coin presses fitted with special dies. The coin is struck multiple times, leaving a frosted image on top of a mirror-like surface. As compared to the uncirculated American Silver Eagle, the American Proof Silver Eagle has a significantly lower mintage number which increases its value.
